What are the best e-commerce applications and other digital marketing tools?

I realize that e-commerce marketing is a different ball game from what marketing a brick and mortar store used to be. I don't know which applications to use or which digital marketing tools would accomplish the task. I'm open to any recommendations and willing to learn from those of you who have gone through this and found the tools that work for you. TIA!
