How to handle international returns on Shopify?

How can I handle returns or exchanges for items that were shipped internationally on Shopify? Am I obligated to accept every return?

There are various ways of handling international returns:
- Engaging a returns solution provider that will ease the return process. The customer gets their refund as soon as the provider tells you they have received the item.
- You can let the customer post the item back and give them a postage refund after you receive them. It is not a common method among customers and most likely the unhappy customer will write a bad review
- Alternatively, you can write it off and let the customer keep the item since international returns are hectic
