Customer journey vs. purchase funnel: What's the difference?
Asked 3 years ago
Hello all, is there a difference between a sales/marketing funnel and a customer journey? I have a funnel in place, but my conversion rate hasn't improved by much. When I looked online I found that mapping the customer journey and touchpoints could be the answer, but I don't understand what the difference is? It seems the same to me.

Though similar a sales funnel and customer journey are different. A sales/marketing funnel has many pages that have the aim of encouraging customers to take an action. A business can have different sales funnels for different purposes like to purchase a product or opt in to its email list.
While a customer journey is a representation of how someone gets to know the business, gains interest, and finally converts. It helps you understand how you can guide the target audience to become a customer.

Sales funnel or marketing funnel is a consumer-focused marketing strategy that models the marketing and sales process from the company's perspective. It is a strategy that companies use to efficiently market their products and services to leads at different stages of the funnel.
On the other hand, the customer journey is the visual mapping of your customer's journey from the point of interaction until the final purchase. Tracking customer journeys is a complicated process as it needs to take a lot of detailed information into account.
