Why is sustainable shipping important?

Hi guys, I've got a few shipping carrier options available to me and was just wondering why people opt for sustainable but more expensive ones? If I go down that route it would eat into my margins big time.

The shipping industry emits 940 million tonnes of CO2 annually. To save the planet, companies are turning to zero-carbon shipping. Sustainable shipping is the practice where businesses, logistics companies, and other shareholders in the shipping industry reduce the environmental impact of shipping.
Sustainable shipping can be achieved by
- Reducing packaging material waste
- Incentivizing green shipping
- Overcharging overnight and fast shipping
- Use of biodegradable or recyclable packaging materials
