Tips when negotiating new supply contract.

My current supplier contract is coming to an end in 6 months and soon I'll need to start negotiating for a new one. Overall I've been very happy with my supplier and they are easy to work with but margins are slim at the moment and I predict they will stay that way in the near future. I could use some help with negotiation techniques if someone has any to share. It would help me a lot, thanks!
