How do I calculate shipping costs?

What factors do I need to consider when I calculate my shipping costs? Does it have to do with the dimensions of the box, or the number of boxes? Where does the DIM divisor come into play?

The DMI divisor helps calculate the total DMI weight - multiply the length, width, and height of the package, then divide by a standard divisor. To calculate shipping cost you need to include shipping fees and packaging costs, as well as some other variables.
