What is last click or direct conversions?

I'm busy learning the different types of conversions analyzed by Google Analytics and how they work. I'm not sure I understand what a 'last click conversion' means. Can someone please explain?

Last click or direct conversion is when a click on a paid ad directly makes a purchase. It means the customer saw the ad and made a purchase without visiting other websites. Direct clicks are most important because it shows how many ad clicks lead to a conversion directly.
